Default Under Hood Diagnostic Port a OBD1?

Hello. I have a 2000 Lexus LS400 and the common check vsc, abs, vsc off lights. I read on here jumper pins to get in diagnostic mode. I did that. Then read to jumper ts and e1 to clear the codes. Which I did. But check vsc appears right away. So I'm not entering into that for some reason. But looking at my scanner. That under hood diagnostic port is laid out the same as the obd1 plug I have for my scanner. My scanner requires vehicle information when setting it up., and does not give the option for obd1. Says plug into obd2.
My obd2 port only has 4 wires into it. 3 on one row. 1 on the other. Is that normal?
If Lexus has a diagnostic scanner for that port. Is it actually just a OBD1 scanner. Or does it have completely different software?

Any information would be greatly appreciated. Ultimately I just want to reset all those error lights

1995-2000 LS 400s use OBD-II. This is a completely different system from OBD-I, and the method of shorting the pins for diagnostic codes does not apply unless you are using the engine bay diagnostic port.

I own a 1990-1994 LS that uses OBD-I, so I do not know what would be normal for your car,

In general, note that all 1996+ vehicles use OBD-II. Lexus started a year early in 1995 with the LS. However, there is a DLC OBD-I connector in the engine bay.

Thanks for your reply And I agree that pin jumping is dicey. And I know the car runs on obd2. When you take the car to Lexus they scan the obd2 port, and for more information they scan the under the hood diagnostic port.
I guess the 1st question, is that diagnostic port, an obd1?

I apologize for the delayed reply. No, on your 2000, you have an OBD-II port only. OBD-II does not use the OBD-I port used on the 1st gen cars.

EDIT: See below post

I am fully aware that my 2000 utilizes an OBD2 diagnostic port. However. There is another port under the hood, the port that everyone uses a wire to Jumper a couple pins. The dealership has a separate code reader that plug into that same port, to retrieve more in depth codes your car may be throwing, or not throwing at, through your OBD2. MY car has "vsc off", abs, and "check vsc". It does NOT have the check engine light illuminated. Therefore throws NO codes when scanned by an OBD2 scanner. But does throw code 43 when in diagnostic mode when I use a wire and jumper the 2 pins
Even though I Know my 2000 IS RUNNING OBD2. AND IF I TAKE MY CAR TO LEXUS DEALERSHIP, THEY WILL USE A SEPERATE SCANNER,, OTHER THAN OBD2 ON THAT PORT UNDER THE HOOD. WHAT TYPE OF SCANNER IS IT THEY USE FOR THAT TYPE OF PORT?
Here are the pictures. Clear as day that my 2000 under hood diagnosis port has the same exact pin lay out and an obd1 scanner.
Maybe I'm the only one that has noticed this??

Under hood Diagnostic Port

This is the pin out of the under hood Diagnostic port and the pin out of obd2

This is the scanner connector for TOYOTA/Lexus OBD1 NOTICE HOW THE PINS ON THIS OBD1 MATCH UP WITH THE PINS FROM THE UNDER HOOD DIAGNOSTIC PORT IN MY 2000. IT PLUGS RIGHT IN, PERFECTLY Aligned.

Very interesting - I never knew this. Thanks for the photos. I didn't understand your situation as well in your original post, but now it is much clearer.

I always thought that both the engine bay and dash ports would be OBD-II, but it seems I'm wrong. I can't confirm if that still runs on the OBD-I protocol, but it is very possible considering that you were able to get a VSC code 42..

I haven't heard anyone mention this before, hence why I was trying to be precautionary in my responses and highlight key parts, but I just found this thread online, regarding a 1997 Toyota truck:
https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/obd1-or-obd2.276080/

Without a 1995+ LS, I can't confirm the protocol myself, but it looks like Toyota was running two protocols simultaneously.

This information ought to be bookmarked for future reference.. Sorry for the confusion

Do you have a picture of what the white circle plug looks like? I have a hunch that it may be a Toyota OBD-I DLC2 port, which is round.

Here is the DLC2 port on a 1996 UK spec LS 400 (source). Does it look like this?

Side note: I also learned today that 1999-2003 RX models have the DLC2 and OBD-II ports under the dash... Incredible.
