Default 97 LS400 transmission swap

My nephew has a 97 LS400. The transmission needs to be rebuilt or replaced. I have an 89 MK3 Supra, that I am doing a 2JZ swap in. I ordered a JDM 2JZ, and it came out of a 2001 Toyota Aristo. That engine came with an automatic transmission. I don't need that transmission because I am going to use my current r154 5 speed manual. I'm wondering if anyone here knows of or has experience in whether the Aristo 2JZ TT automatic transmission would be compatible with the LS400. I've done research myself and I can't seem to find any information specifically about a situation like this. I thank you in advance for any help.

It won't bolt up and will need some ecu tricks to get it working . Once you've done all that you'd be better off having just bought a used trans

I thought there may be a problem between the two regarding the solenoids and the ECM. I was thinking of trying to put the ls bellhousing and torque converter on the Aristo transmission for bolting purposes. I agree by the time we go through all that might as well buy a used LS400 transmission. From what I've seen online so far you can get one for about 300 to $400.

Why does it need what you say? Someone must have used the wrong fluid, or never changed it, as those are about all that will ruin one of those transmissions. I think the transmissions will out last anything on these cars if properly taken care of.

I'm I'm not sure why it needs what I said. My nephew is 19 years old and has worked since he was 15. He found this car and bought it on his own with his own money. He's had it for about 4 months now. I have educated him the best I can about vehicle maintenance. Right now why it broke down isn't relevant. I I need the best possible solution to fix this problem. I have one and was just wondering if it was compatible with that car.

Took me a while, but I found a used one for my 1996 ls400 for $100 that had 106k miles or so. Most of the other ones I found went for around $500. You can do it in your driveway if you take your time and get the car on jacks high enough.
