Lexus LS 400 -92 transmission issues
Hi guys,
I changed the 2nd solenoid on my Lexus LS 400 -92 tranny one month ago. I suspect it has been leaking transmission fluid since. Today it started shuddering (symptoms of low transmission fluid) and I tried to check the level before commencing my return home. As many can testify, it is innacurate when the car is cold. Anyways I drove home in the 34 degree celcius heat in Sweden and when I got home I checked the transmission stick and it was bone dry and so hot it was steaming. Also I want to add that I drove very carefully, around 60 km/h maximum.
Other symptoms were poor acceleration and lack of throttle response.
Does anybody have any tips regarding what I can and should do? Is the transmission shot? I suspect leakage from the transmission pan gasket and will be checking it later.
Regards
Hermansen

Vacuum leaks cause shudders that many people believe are from the transmission. I would remove and check vacuum hoses and clamps. What color is the tranny fluid? Red?, Brown? Black? Did you put only Type T-IV or equivalent transmission fluid in it? If not you will need to flush it. These trannys are very moody if any other fluid is used, including stop leaks. So, if there is a stop leak additive in your transmission. Best to park it until you can flush it, because my understanding is if you drive it more and more with stop leak in it the more and more that stuff binds this tranny up. Flush early and you might be okay.

did you replace the gasket when you pulled the trans? Id say you have a leak. Check for old leaks and clean with degreaser Purchase some some uv fluid and a light and add it to the fluid.
