Default Ecu and transmission questions

I’m currently looking into finding the answer on swapping to a manual transmission what has been done for the ecu to recognize that it’s a manual and not the automatic transmission any help would be appreciated

I’ve looked in to a stand-alone but was just wondering if anyone’s has pinned out there stock Ecu or if everyone has had to get a stand-alone to be able to run a manual transmission

to my limited understanding, the ECU just needs to think the car is in Park for a manual trans to work.
this simply involves jumping the wires in the shifter permanently. this is how we do it in the Honda world and the principle should translate.

I thinking jumping it could cause some problems down the road but that a gods idea I appreciate the response... I gotten the basics down of what I need to make it happen I’m just curious on how people either bypass it with the same Ecu or just buying a total different ecu having it tuned

if you do it right, it should not give you problems.
doing so will also enable you to take out the key from the ignition since it will not come out unless the car is in Park.

the ecu has the transmission controller built in so either you run the stock ecu with the shifter bypass or run a standalone which is more costly.
