I've searched and read through quite a few threads but I didn't find an issue that is exactly like mine.

1998 LS400 160K Miles

The A/C will work from a cold start and continue working until I turn the engine off. When I turn the engine on again after being parked, I will hear the A/C clutch attempt to kick on then off followed by the A/C light blinking (system blows warm air). When the problem first started, I could push the A/C button on and off a few times and the A/C would work again intermittently. I don't understand why the A/C only works from a cold start unless this is a symptom of a failing compressor? I would like to know if anyone has some suggestions I could try before paying to have the compressor replaced? Sadly...compressors don't last forever. =(

Things I've tried so far:
-Confirmed low side refrigerant pressure is within spec
-Swapped in a new magnetic clutch relay

*I don't own the proper gauge to check the high side port pressure
