Unhappy Hood is jammed shut on '91

Have had to place a stick to hold hood open for years. After I shut it today, cannot open. Lever inside doesn't open, unlock, lock doesn't matter. Reach into grill and no longer find the clasp to open, just a thin bar that moves up and down but doesn't seem to catch anything to open hood.

Have any photos? Sounds like your hood cable is worn out or the latch is jammed.

Where were you placing the wood to keep the hood open? Hopefully it didn't affect the latch.

I don't think so on these cars, that is one of the worse things that can happen. Though I did post a photo on here someplace of how it could be done. Its in that sticky they never gave me. And kinda why I don't care too much any more and kinda gave up on this site.

Dicer, I had one break on my old 96 and it was no problem less than 10 minutes I had it open with a long screwdriver (I dont know what I pushed on but it popped up and I pulled the hook and it opened..... and I

got started replacing it, a little time but no problems. and I was in my 70's then and did it myself without Jon... now at 84, it would take me 10 minutes to get down so I could look up at the catch.... and then lay there a few minutes to rest....
terrible to get old..

Maybe it is different on those years? I'll have to study it a bit more and see if a screw driver can do it.

Okay ran out and took a quick look. I actually studied that along time ago just incase I had a problem. Once the hook goes over that loop on the hood, it catches internally and the only way to get to the release is to follow where the cable goes in if memory serves, I had posted a picture of that latch on here, but its where ever. I went to lots of trouble photographing and loading them here, and with no sticky all just a waste of time. I had pointed with a small screw driver where to push or pull to release it. I don't see what using a screw driver would do to the hook that is locked with in that metal case, by just poking at it and the loop????
