Default Lexus LS400 ECU

I have a identical ECU like original .I removed mine and connected , than turned the engine on ,the check engine logo comes on board ,a little shake ,the engine look run rough with bad smell gasoline. My question is: must reset or reprograming the unit with vehicle identification # for my car to work fine, or the ECU is not good?

What year LS? What is the history on the car? I would suggest inspecting the capacitors of both ECU's to verify they are not leaking and or have been repaired. May be other issues to resolve as well.

Hi pzbercea.

Which thread r u referring to? If it’s regarding mine well my ECU board is badly damaged. Totally screwup by the capacitor leaks. Need replacement of ECU now. Had mentioned on my earlier thread.

Hi RA40,

If I’m not mistaken I mentioned it also. It’s LS400 year 95 with RHS. The ECU board has been eaten totally by the capacitor leaks and had send it to few countries not just company...I sumtimes had issues with custom where I was tax upon receiving my own ECU that can’t be repaired this. I told them it’s not item I bought from outside but it’s my own item that need to repair.

So to cut things short I had to pay additional for receiving my own ECU. Plus this ECU can’t be repair due to the board was totally eaten.

Hope I had made my self clear

LSLS, was replying to pzbercea ECU issue. His car is stateside so his ECU search-repair should not be to difficult. I see that Yamae listed some possibilities in your thread.
