Default 99LS totaled insurance rip replacement advice needed

Hey I turned 211k had a new double din been lowered with 18” wheels etc I was just looking at some 2007 ish is350s and decided I would keep my LS for ANOTHER 7 years when bam. Rear ended. Not bad though. Enough to total it.
So advice on insurance: stop paying for full coverage. No insurance company values these cars what they are actually worth. Consider agreed value coverage. I can’t find a car AT ALL so.

I drove an 11is250 slow and dirty
08 isf rode hard and put away wet
2014 is350 lots of gizmos and huge payment
11 ls460 couch on wheels
08 G8 GT plastic with a side of rattles
05 TL actually the best of all of them somehow, but still fwd and abused
11 335i fairly spot on but I haven’t heard good things about reliability or the service.

what am I missing? My hope was to get something a bit smaller and faster than the LS400, but there’s really not much AROUND. On the list is GS430/450/460. Maybe I just need to get the ISF and fix it back up. These cars are all pretty rare. I mean 4 hr min drive. So many dealerships sell crap in this price point it’s hard to justify a trip to look at leather with filler cream smeared in the cracks.

So did Lexus just screw up the 2IS with the melting dash. I’m not seeing any fix for this. The 2011 I drove didn’t have it, but it didn’t have even some of the features on the 99LS. So many 250s I feel like I’m going to have to start looking at some of the beak cars from Acura.

Another LS400 is out though. I need something more exciting to drive for a while.

Owww, sorry to hear about the collision. Tell us what you like in a car. How much are you looking to spend? What characteristics are desired?

I thought the GS350 last generation and current were pretty nice. Haven't driven a GS-F and that is one in my mind since it is V-8 motivated. LS460's I like to some extent but not really my top choice. I'd prefer the 430. Drove a Panamera S and that is one heck of a ride at opposites of the LS. I could settle for an Avalon but FWD isn't really the direction I like.

The IS250 has the carbon fouling issues, I'd opt for the 350 versions. I'm not familiar with the fixes/recall Lexus has implemented just that it can be problematic at some point.

What about an RLX hybrid? 377hp with 3 electric motors and still averages 30mpg. Does about a 5.2 sec 0-60 so its pretty quick and has SH-AWD so fun in the twisties....for a big car.

Ideal: 4 door, auto, very reliable, 0-60 in the 5s up to $20k

alternative1: 2 door auto very reliable 0-60 in the 5s up to $20k

alternative 2: 4 door, reliable make with community support $6k this would be a sort of punt. ie 05 TL

Alternative 3: 4 door, reliable make manual $6k more like a TSX.

Ill have to look at the RLX. Acura’s are so ugly right now. Still a viable alternative.

Plus one on only liability on older cars with mileage on them. I only carry liability and have reserves in the bank should I need another, or just switch to another car in the stable.
Good luck on the search... I think an older GS model may be what you're looking for.
Sorry for the crash and loss, know that was never your plan.

For alternative 1, you could look at the SC430. Not sure how fast it is though, but should be very reliable.

Naw the trunk opening folded in and the front bumper got jacked. It’ll be close to $5k.

Today I drove a
2015GS350 and wasn’t impressed, there was a rotor problem though
2015 MKZ. Plastic fantastic.
2015 TLX v6 Awd. This impressed me.
2016 ILX A spec. I liked this a lot too, but I felt my ***** shrivle up every time I thought about driving it when I really wanted the ISF.

I might try try to haggle the 14 IS350, but I’m out classed in this arena.
When I get close to something I might call the ISF guy and see if he’s ready to view it’s condition objectively.
Thanks for the Acura tip.

I guess this is a happy ending. I don’t have to find a new forum.

2008 IS-F

i will be removing the aftermarket parts and possibly parting LS out. For now it’s going to take a nap and wait to be called on as a backup/snow machine.

Thanks for the help.
