99 LS400 - how to identify if I am Nakamichi Sound System
I have the navigation screen - so does this mean I have the Nakamichi model sound system?
I've seen a few threads on here on replacing the Lexus Premium Sound System in a 1999 LS400, and that radio and center console does not look like mine.
My BASS/TREBLE, BALANCE and FADE controls are driven on the on-screen menue's, I do not have separate ***** for these functions as the standard radio seems to have.
When i looked in the owners manual - it did not show my radio in there. It looked more like the standard radio.
So, can I make the assumption I have the Nakamichi?
Any advice is appreciated.

the screen doesn't automatically mean nakamichi

You can identify whether or not you are a Nakamichi sound system by looking in the mirror. Otherwise if your 1999 LS400 has a factory navigation unit then it does not have a Nakamichi sound system. It is a Pioneer. While the Nakamichi sounds great it isn't without its share of problems specifically the right channel (right side speakers) occasionally going out due to an issue within the head unit. This effects many if not all 1998+ Nakamichi sound systems.

i think the bigger problem is that nakamichi went out of business many years ago whereas pioneer is still alive and well, and still able to sell you parts. and what do you mean by looking in the mirror? i know on the models without navigation it literally says nakamichi at the top right of the head unit, and there's no ASL button. the bass/mid/treble ***** are also round.
