Default Head Unit Replacement

Hey everybody,

I have a '98 LS400 with Nakamichi. Factory everything. Previous owner installed a Tranzit Blu HF bluetooth thing, not sure if that will complicate this as they already installed a microphone ran through the ceiling. I found this thread from 5 years ago: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...unit-swap.html

I'm thinking about following that guy's footsteps, but I wanted to see if anyone can suggest some less expensive gear. Linked thread owner had bought a Beatsonic SLA-220D for $280. Are there any alternatives? It's currently listed at $380, which is pretty steep. Also his head unit was a JVC KD-X250BT, which I can't find available anywhere so I was curious if anyone had any similar suggestions. I'm hoping to avoid dropping more money than I need to.

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

If you want to retain the factory amp and speakers then buy the Beat-Sonic and save yourself a lot of headache.

If you plan to replace the speakers and amp with an aftermarket system then you won't need the beat-sonic.

Honestly i would go with a double-din touch screen stereo. Something with apple car play or that android dealio.
