Default Cam position sensor location

1999 ls400 Does anyone know where the cam position sensor location is I have code p0340 I can’t seem to find location thank you in advance

These are the left and right camshaft sensor location with the Cam covers removed. The site will not upload the pics.

This is the picture of my 91 LS but I believe the location of 99 is the same as it is in 91 because both of them are 1uzfe engines. Check the highlighted lines. Follow the pig tail that is your car's left and right cam position sensors.

Cam position sensor lives in distributor rotor housing. Check this harness, it's attached to Cam position sensor.

Yes those are under the engine valve cover plastic trim/timing belt cover.

@sha4000 I am using laptop to upload pictures.

Just remove the 2 camshaft covers and you will see them. This is not that hard but you do have to wiggle those covers to get them off if memory serves me correct.

I dont recall any vvt-i engines having a cam sensor problem, am I missing something??

The camshaft position sensor is located under the left hand timing belt cover.

The attachment is from the 1998 FSM but it should apply to your 1999 model year as well.
