Default A couple brake light questions plus window question not working, related?

Ive been having this battery die issue.Neighbour comes over....I saw your brake lights on last night.Think it might be the switch.

Which makes sense.Anything else to look for,1998.

Heres the funny question though,i saw a switch for the Sienna (fits the lexus) and also lists "With power window"? Is this switch in any way related to my driver door switches now not working until car heats up,only drivers window works there. All individual switches work on their doors. Also it only opens door I put key in,used to open all door locks from drivers door key.All works after 5-10 mile drive. Its been very cold but above freezing BTW.

Also,Im thinking buying a used brake light switch OEM for 8.99 vrs 50 or so from lexus.Or just buy a new cheap switch?Doesnt seem much to change it.Or only OEM? Opinions please.

I went with the used switch since both my reasonable OEM priced ones sold as i waited.Be a week or so to get it.

I got the 4 Amp Deltran battery tender hooked up.Went out today to see all the green lights on showing a full charge and in maintenance mode.Very cool. With a 12.6 reading on cheapo cig lighter doodad (which reads low),all the doors opened with the key,and driver door functions all worked.Ordered some cabling to make a slick plug in setup.Right now have cable exiting where hood meets between top of headlight and turn signal. Will mount a plug somewhere in bumper or front license plate,we will see when I get it.

Have to say, that Deltran rocks. You see a lot of bad reviews, but when you are selling many thousands that makes those bad reviews really stick out,vrs the guy who it works for and doesnt post.Hope mine is good.

I had this problem before, but on my old Honda accord, where the brake lights stayed on overnight draining the battery.
it was not the brake pedal switch that was the problem in this case, it was the little "stopper" that had deteriorated and disabled the switch from being triggered at the pedal!
not sure if the LS400 has this stopper design too, but it's worth a check while you wait for the part to come in!

also I don't see a connection with the brake pedal switch to your window switch.
temperature swings cause problems with old electronics and I suspect there is a cracked solder joint in the switch itself that is causing intermittent issues you are experiencing.
when the car heats up the solder joint expands and makes contact, then the switch starts working!

the solution is to take it apart and just resolder the contacts.
finding the problematic joint is tough so just resolder all the contacts for good measure.

Thanks Tim for all the good thoughts.Im glad you too think the problem is going to be at pedal/switch area too.Door switch could be that solder issue at that, but since the full charge on battery it hasnt repeated.I can acid test it though at end of week, freeze and snow blowing in,that'll test the cold theory.Thank you for that.

Im still marvelling over the Deltran, hope its durable.

36F,no further issue with door switches,Im going with it was a not fully charged battery issue.Got brake light switch, will change that when weather improves.

Yay,my cords came in.Now Deltran lives behind a locked door using the 25 foot extension cable. As for the mounting cable to front of car,I need a step up drill bit to mount it.Its long enough to reach license plate but looks like serious metal there behind it?
No matter, plenty spots to mount it in bumper cover. No more worries if car sits for a couple weeks now (Old guy on 'permanent vacation' problem,LOL!),will always be fully charged.Cool
