1999 LS400 Front Cigarette Lighter Socket Not Working
Hi Guys,
I have a 1999 LS400. The front cigarette lighter socket stopped working after I changed the HID bulbs, which involved removing the battery. Not sure if that's related. Prior to that, it was working. I changed the 15amp fuse and it is still not working. The sockets in the center arm rest, and rear doors work.
I read a few posts about having to remove the wood trim and inspecting the socket's wiring, but want to see if there are other things that I should check before that job.
Any help is appreciated!

That little thermal fuse/wire is there to protect against things getting too hot in there, such as if the cig lighter were to fail to eject. But it also introduces some complexity that could cause a failure just from coming loose. Yes, common failure point on these cars. Mine had it where it just came loose and needed to be tuned up a little. For yours to fail, it would have needed to overheat (not overcurrent - the fuse would blow before that happened) or have a connection in there come loose. Also, on cars this old, you need to keep in mind that a previous owner may have done something to fix a problem.
But given the fact that the problem arrived right after making other changes, you might want to look at the circuit diagram and see if any other fuse failures could be causing the problem here. When you changed the fuse, was the old one blown? I'm just suggesting these, since it's probably easier to check the circuit diagram and check fuses before pulling stuff apart.

Just a follow up. I was able to fix the front cigarette lighter by following the instructions above that Yamae posted. About a year in and everything still seems fine.
