Whatever you do DO NOT go with MOOG front upper control arms. They somehow messed up the design of the part and it adds 2 degrees of positive caster (tilts front knuckles backwards) and all the alignment shops would not touch it due to it being way out of spec.

WOW! Mods,is there a place in the stored threads of what to know where this info can be kept, this sounds very important it is known.

Excellent comments folks, keep your suspension stories coming. With OEM parts disappearing we need to know what we need to go to now.

I will add the poly strut bushings are very functional if not the superb ride we were accustomed to.It WILL keep our cars on the road and safe.

Ive been doing a lot of reading on net lately on subject and overall across vehicle brands poly bushings have excellent ratings for longevity and very tight fitting for safety and tolerances on the suspension, thats good.

In case some owners need photo evidence, I took some for reference:
Stock Arms:

Moog Arms: Note position of the balljoint in the arm in relation to the shock and how far back it pushes the knuckle.

@Losiracer2- Did you ever lay those two arms over each other before mounting? They really look quite different.

Is there a specific 'left side' and 'right side' for them and maybe you put them on backwards?

I did, they are a completely different design and are made out of a different steel compared to the OEM ones.

^there is also a possibility those MOOG arms for an older gen LS400 but the store you purchased might list for the wrong year- or that MOOG incorrectly assumed the first-gen arms would work for the second-gen. Because I know a 1995-2000 control arm is completely different (2nd gen) to the older LS400 control arm (1st gen). Also, suspension refresh? T-Demand Japan coilovers with adjustable ride-height and variable dampening rate refresh :

Screw poly front strut arm. More like spherical bearing!

FIGS Engineering also sells a whole improved set if you're into that refresh thing:

I used Mevotech upper arms from Rockauto... it has only been just shy of 2 years and 10k miles but so far no issues.

Maybe this is the right thread for my question:

98 with 110k miles. Florida car. I did some drive testing for the front strut bars but I don't hear/feel any clunks when braking at slow speeds.

I am however getting a clunk on the driver's side and a lot more bounce when going over speedbumps or low speed pot hole type situations. It's not a metallic sound, more of a plastic crunch, like if you crushed a plastic lunch box. The uneven bounce on the driver's side feels like a bad strut to me. I lifted it up and took the wheel off but didn't notice anything visually. The strut rod bushing didn't look too good, but I suspect that might be the case with all the suspension torque on it. Are there any other tests I can do to isolate the problems? Thanks.
