Lowering a LS400
Hey guys,
I was wondering if it is possible to literally cut my current springs in order to lower the car a little bit. Is this possible. What do I need to remove in order to cut them (if anything). Thanks,

Well I figure, why not try it out if it doesn't cost anything, besides, I will be getting new springs new anyways..... so do you know if it is possible? Would I need to remove any parts? Thanks for your help man!

Not a good idea. Not only will your ride be a lot bouncier...your shocks will be gone in a couple months. If you want to lower it a 'lil...just shell out the $200-$250 for springs. If you want to do it the right way...go with coilovers.

Back in my days(about eight years ago) a lot of those Hondas cut springs to lower the car. But right now nobody does that no more cuz lowering springs are soooooooo cheap.
BTW......Eight years ago I was 17....so I'm not that old okay?

In a time long ago...early 80's, we'd cut stock springs. Simply because there weren't lots of applications supported by the aftermarket. You got full race springs if you were lucky to find them. Given the choices the right way to do it is buy lowering springs. They are matched for specific performance characteristics.
Given the time and labor to remove and cut stock, and if you are getting new springs, I wouldn't bother. If at some point you decide to sell the car, stock springs will be more desirable in most cases.
