oil analysis?

Did Blackstone do the analysis? What was the comment they had? On a past car with a K&N the iron reading went up. I had one on the Lex for a very short bit and that too came back with a higher iron level. Out came the filter and the iron reading went back down. Then on I've used the Denso air filter without issue. There may be other contributing factors so not necessarily the air filter and dusty-dirt type conditions in all cases.

^ very interesting! I've been running K&Ns on most of my cars.
I guess I should stick to paper filters.
to the OP, never did an analysis myself but am curious what oil are you running, and what are the rest of the numbers?

I wish I had those reports for the exact comments on the iron readings. Pulling from memory I'm a bit fuzzy now. There were other wear issues going on with that car besides the higher iron levels. The rings were wearing and compression was dropping. It was running a synthetic using Fram PH8A filter.
The iron on the Lex hovers 6-9 points with Mobil 1 at a range of intervals. Have tested from 5K to just shy of 15K with the 20004 Japan made filter. At the time I had the K&N in, iron went up to 12. Still low yet with the Denso air filter, it was halved to 6. Those little bits add up year after year. Our past discussions on the K&N have varying comments. A difficult subject with oil since there are many variables that factor in to be conclusive.

Yes, Blackstone read my sample. Since I just got the car in August, I dont know what oil was in it, but it was clean when I got the car. I drove it 4200 miles then sent the sample in. I will have the oil sampled again at 5000 miles from my oil change. I'm using Pennzoil synthetic 5w30. Air filter was filthy when I got the car and changed it the first week with a paper filter.

I worry about that the resonator box or some vacuum hoses are cracked as is shown in the links below. These are rather common problems among 98-00. The unfiltered air is absorbed when the leakage happens and it increases the engine wear.
