Thumbs up New to the forums and the Lexus brand

Hi all, new to the forum. Here are some pictures of my first Lexus purchase, a 1990 LS400. I paid $1400 and has 187k miles on it. The door panels and seats are from a newer model LS400 (I have a post already about wiring issues), and the transmission has around a 100k miles. Before I flew to Las Vegas, NV to pick it up, I had a buddy of mine that lives around there check it out for me. After I looked at it personally, I drove it back to El Paso, TX (800 miles) in comfort and absolutely no problems. I've been wanting one of these for a while now, especially due to their looks and reliability. I did a lot of research before I found the right one for the price. Needless to say that any chance I get to drive the car, I will (even if I'm wasting some gas lol). My plans are to lower the car, put some decent wheels on it, exhaust work etc... Maybe a mild VIP style build. Definitely want to do a manual swap down the road. I'll be posting a build thread as well for everything that I'm doing to it..

No burnt out needles

Needs a little clean up but glad it served you well on your long road trip. Seats are definitely not original as they don't match the interior, but that's not a big deal.
Tons of information here to assist you on your journey. Welcome to the club.

welcome and always check the FAQ first! there is a plethora of info here.

glad the drive was a trouble-free one. time to take care of basic maintenance so the car continues to deliver the reliable drive it has!

Thank you. Yes it definitely served me well. Has some minor quirks here and there (easy fixes), as expected for a 29 year old car. The previous owner swapped the the original seats as they were getting torn up (as you can probably tell by the original center console). No big deal. I actually kind of like the slightly mismatched newer interior. I don't know, adds some character I guess? The car is a little dirty since the previous owner had the car set aside as a future project build, but decided to sell it to put money into one his other cars. I might wash it this weekend if it's not raining.

Thanks! Yes, I'll definitely be doing at least an oil change this weekend!

This site has provided me with a wealth of information so far!

Haha thanks man!I love getting something different every now and then. I'm enjoying every minute of it! It's been a while since I had a car to work on. And this thing is replacing my 2001 lifted Land Rover Discovery off road money pit lol. I did take a chance driving the LS400 on a long trip but it was worth it. I had made sure the car was in a condition to drive that far before buying it.

Rain in El Paso? You gotta be kidding me right? Sorry... lived 10 years in Cruces and then moved to DFW and we get over 3 feet of rain here every year. You don't know rain.
Looks like you're in for the long haul. Keep us posted on your progress.
