Default 1998 radio has no power

Just picked up a 1998 LS400 and the radio doesn’t work. No power or anything. It’s a Nakamichi 6 disc. I’m about to pull it out but I’d like to know if anything is causing it to not power on. Climate control works fine, and this car doesn’t have the car phone option

Do your climate control and, or, radio display backlights illuminate with headlights?

No backlight suggests no power to radio.

You checked related fuses?

I’ve checked both radio/audio fuses and they’ve been replaced but work fine.

I dont know if the 98 power distribution changed much from 95 to 97 but take a look at this chart and check the fuses that fall under radio and player. 7.5 amp Radio no.2 fuse, 10amp Panel fuse and 7.5 amp Dome-RR fuse.

My 99 did the same thing. The fuse for the air susp, even though I didn't have air susp. was the issue. You may want to check that ...

Success! The DOME 10A fuse was blown. Resolved my nonfunctional key fob, radio, and dome lights! However, the headlights no longer work. Only the running lights, brights and one fog light.

Glad it worked out! I had an issue on my 1995 LS400 and it was some unrelated fuse that was the culprit. What is worse is when it looks fine and its blown...
