The Best LS400 ....
Opal
The Best Ive owed..1997 Opal
My Little truck
I’m Italian...just love this one
Well. I feel the need to “bump” this thread. I for one have had a couple of these 95-97 models and absolutely love em.
Currently I have the 1997 Coach version “opal” color and get many compliments..... mostly older guys and younger ones who appreciate ... One of the best cars made...(my opinion).
I have rebuilt the front end..rebuilt transmission, as well as most of the basic items..sensors.... and wife Always wants to take it on any trips we do..... Florida delivered and still going strong at 179,000 . One of the best highway rides I have had.
Let’s just leave it with .... if you experience a 95-97 Ls400.... ya just know what I mean... I feel lucky that “Opal” has been very dependable and an Excellent car for about 6 yrs now.

8. tilt away steering wheel with an unsealed motor. this means when the wheel stops moving, you can actually make it work again without going through the nightmare of having to replace the entire motor. sure, the 98-00s are ultrasonic and are totally silent, but when they are done they are done. on a 95-97 simply take off the plastic cover on the steering column, pop a few screws off, and stick a zip-tie in the motor. bam! it works again!
Question, are they supposed to be completely silent? Because mine is VERY not silent in my 1998. I would say equivalent to wind noise @20mph. I don't care at all, because it only happens when you get in\out, but just curious if it's supposed to be completely silent (quieter than the engine at idle).

I like my '97. Was initially planning to get a '98 but the owner wanted way too much for a car that needed expensive repairs.
Can't complain about a 22yr old car with under 150k miles and 2 previous owners.
