1997 LS400 side airbag indicator lit, Key not in car
Noticed something strange that my 1997 LS has never done before. The side airbag warning light is lit up while the car is off and locked, keys not in the ignition or anything. I did test the warning indicators, and when I insert the key and turn to the ACC position, the No seat belt indicator and the side airbag indicator light up together, and the side airbag indicator lights up BRIGHTER when the no seat belt warning is lit. All warnings and indicators turn off after starting the car, it is only with the engine off and the key out of the ignition that the side airbag indicator remains lit. Airbags are not something i want to mess with, and I definitely don't want them malfunctioning. I also don't want my battery being worn down because the cars computer is still running some sort of check.
My next troubleshooting step is to disconnect the battery for ~15 or so minutes and see if that gets rid of the indicator, but I feel like maybe my ECU is acting up since the indicator is lit up dimly and only comes to full life when the cluster does its warning indicators check. Any advice would be really appreciated guys and gals.
Replacing the caps will be on my agenda if I dont sell the car soon. The airbag indicator turns on as soon as the steering wheel tilts upward when the key is removed, and turns off after the HVAC vents have done their final shuffle (if you shut off your car and wait a few minutes, you'll hear the vents change position). New quirk, I'll await the next oddity I guess
