I just looked at a 2000 GS300 at the Mercedes dealer tonight. When I sat in it, I was reminded of the IS300 I drove recently. It's a nice car, but it doesn't have the "commanding presence" of the LS. Just nice, not special. I am sure they handle well and all, but it is the LS400 for me and the family. Now I am looking for an SC400 to replace my other car which is a......well I won't say what it will replace. You will all think less of me......

I like them both. We shouldn't have to choose. gimme one of everything Lol.

I believe the GS is a fine car for a "driver's car" but i could not forsee it replacing the luxury and spacious LS. Each does indeed serve it's purpose.

Since I like stuff that not many have, I'd go for an LS again. GS is a very fine car but it is way too common.

For luxury and comfort, DEF LS400, but for fun everyday driving with sportiness, and if youre a younger guy the "attention" from the ladies, then the GS if for you...

The LS also feels like a boat compared to my GS, but then for business and social occasions the LS does it for me...I'm very happy with both!

I couldnt make up my mind so i have both

You said you wanted to replaced your wife's car, then get the GS, because the LS is probably too big for her. The GS is more compact. Goodluck w/ the search.
