Default Power steering slight wine

Hello all
1992 Lexus ls400 100,100 miles
Pump and rack replaced 20,000 miles ago. Slight whining when I turn moving or not. Fluid topped off with a additive sorry forgot the name. Additive Not fixing noise. Should I take it in for a flush up on the rack. Quoted 90$ for the job.

Aftermarket PS pumps are notoriously CRAP, no exceptions. The only way to fix the issue is with a Toyota/Lexus OE Pump which most ppl shy away from because of the price. Approx $450 (online) as high as $600 from the parts counter. I'm actually surprised it didn't start whining sooner...

Lexus dealer offers these as rebuilt units...

Their rebuilds use OEM parts and are far superior to aftermarket.

Meanwhile, try replacing P.S
fluid with synthetic.

Use a Turkey baster to remove fluid incrementally.

Also worth mentioning- the OP didn't state if he did the work 20k miles ago or if a shop did it. It may currently have PS fluid in the system? Really no way to know unless the OP did the work himself.
Lexus PS systems use ATF not PS Fluid and as YODA recommended switch it to synthetic ATF either way...

Any Dexron III compatible will work, don't use Lexus ATF Type-IV or WS in the power steering system.
