Hey Yoda, I know it gets confusing reading everything quick but he's talking about needing the PS pump pulley, not the harmonic balancer. That's why I said junkyard. He asked about the harmonic balancer bolt for when he does the timing belt.
There's a correct tool for removing power steering pump pulley:
And here's the incorrect tool, that I use: https://www.amazon.com/Craftsman-Inc.../dp/B00065T0TG
(stick this [or anything else] between the pulley spokes so it stops the pulley from turning while you undo the 17mm nut)
Great minds think alike. Sometimes ya use what ya have and MacGyver it up.
No tool can replace technique and experience.
A person could own every item Snap-On sells AND every SST in the LS manual and still be unable to use them properly.
I usually take off the inspection plate on the tranny and jam a large screwdriver in to hold the flywheel from spinning. Then I loosen the bolt with a two foot breaker bar. Never had a problem that way. bradland is just about correct on the torque, it's 181 ft lbs. Sometimes ya need a pulley puller to remove it.
I would get the the PS pump from a junkyard, that would be cheaper then ebay. Or, just get the pulley from the JY.
I live n an area with very few junkyards within 150 miles radius from me and you won't come across and LS there very often, so Ebay it is!
LS is not very popular in Colorado mountains, people prefer AWD and 4x4 here

Watch what you buy cuz most Ebay pumps won't come with the pulley.
Sure ya could, if you're lucky, and you know that. But who goes to the JY thinking they're gonna find an excellent condition oem part? Surely not me. So 5-10 bucks for a used pulley, whether it's oem or not, is a hell of alot better then $175 for a new "OEM" pulley, even if ya gotta spend $10 on a new bearing for it. Just pointing these things out to try and save "valex" a little money seeing how he's gonna be doing all that other work.
