(2000 LS400) 2001 LS430 added a small black cube that is in series on the emission hose with the green tagged evap service port.
Anyone know what it is called and why it was added?
Thanks.
On LS400 the hose segments to right of Evap Service Port is one solid hose to VSV solenoid. It does not appear to be a check valve (or this one is defective) and is too small to be a vacuum reserve tank... Perhaps it dampens vacuum hammering on VSV??
Appears unidirectional like a vacuum check valve...or perhaps the arrows are for proper orientation Another arrow.
Item 23818 depicted in 2000.vacuum tubing sub diagram lower right. A small plastic hollow square does what?
Thanks for info. The box is hollow, so that makes sense.
Right on did lots of research on that part before using on my 96 4-Runner to eliminate very annoying EVAP-BUZZ sound.
As far as 1998-2005 GS300 use , I don’t get why Toyota/Lexus used such firm spring band clamp on plastic fittings.
After few years of use fittings crack easily due to heat + pressure.
Anyway , my 2cent

A solution to EVAP buzzing employed on LS460.
LS460 employed a damping grommet on the valve bracket to reduce buzzing noise. Have ordered grommet/mounting bracket, but not valve, from Lexus to see if it can be configured on earlier LS's.
