Default Engine & tranny swap from '00 to 95-97?

Would a engine and tranny swap be possible from a 2000 LS to 95-97? I know they have differences being the VVTI and one being a 4 speed, will this swap be difficult or pretty much plug and play, kinda considering finding a new body and swapping all my components instead of continuing body work.

The better route would be buying the 98+ since they are in the $3-4K range depending on condition and miles. Yamae may have some insight as far as the electronics that need to come over to have full function.

Count the added number of ECU's, required to manage the 98-00 engine and transmission, compared to the 95-97 models. That might squash the idea real quick...?

A 98-00 uses the newer bus system called BEAN and this is not compatible with a 97 or earlier models. Using the BEAN, the ECU communicates with many other computers for the AC, doors, windows including the moon roof, side mirrors, ABS, traction control and others. You have to deal with them all and it would not be simple and easy to perform the swapping.

I think you'd be better off buying a VVTI LS and just using it instead. OR if you fancy the 95/97 looks better swap over your body parts. Id do this myself as I prefer the looks of the 95/97 better, and i think it would be pretty cool to have a VVTI in sheep's clothing
