Default Do cylinder heads employ positioning pins?

Am removing cylinder heads on 1999 LS400.

Does anyone know whether positioning pins are utilized between engine block and cylinder heads?

Images helpful.

Thanks

never pulled apart the heads on a 1UZ but I would certainly imagine there would be pins!
a quick search reveals a yes (albeit this is a non-VVTi; should be the same for 98-00)!

If it's like any other car I'm familiar with ...

Yes, it will have "pins" similar to those shown in the pic, also called (hollow) alignment dowels

Those dowels will be shown on the parts diagrams, with their own part number and everything. It's not like they're just in there but not listed anywhere.

Also, as seen in that pic, they are commonly collocated with two of the head bolt holes, in case you're wondering where to look for them.

No specific knowledge on this car. Good luck with your project.

Thanks. Helpful to know "pin" locations when separating head from block. Pin diameter and height suggest need to work carefully.
