Default Won't rev past 2000 rpm in Drive

When I am in drive, my car will go normal out from a stop but once it makes the first shift, it loses all acceleration and won't go past 2000 rpms and my car won't accelerate anymore. Occasionally when I am on the freeway cruising and floor it, my car will downshift but usually, from a cruising speed, flooring it will cause it to rev just below 2000 rpm and stay there, making it very hard to accelerate. Also, it is difficult to get up hills because it often does not down shift and I can't accelerate up the hill. However, when I manually go from L to 2 to Drive, it works fine. Is there any reason why this is happening and how would I fix it. FYI I already replaced the ecu and it did not change much. However, that ecu was from ebay and I did not get my previous rebuilt or looked at.

the 1UZ has some good torque but yea 2000 rpm won't be quite enough

have you checked the throttle position sensor or transmission speed sensor? get a little ELM 327 and check for any codes

I have not checked those yet. I have a 92' so I don't have an obd2 to check for codes. I am unsure how to check for codes on my obd1.

The limitation 2000rpm simply means that your car is in the limp home mode. Read the error code first. You can find the way searching the Net.
This is about an ES300 but it is the same thing.

in that case, this site will be a major blessing http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/codereading.html

i've always been jealous that there isn't an equivalent site for the 1998-2000 LS, some of the procedures and info carry over but a lot about the 1st gen doesn't apply to the later models

So I checked the codes and I got 25, 41, and 55. They correlate to Air-fuel ratio lean malfunction, Throttle position sensor signal, and No. 2 knock sensor signal respectively. I do not have the manual, does anyone know how I would be able to solve these problems? I do not want to go out and buy a manual but I will if I have to. Are these problems easy to solve or very difficult like shop should fix them? Also, what does each of these do, what problems will these fix or what problems are these codes causing...just curious.
