1999 LS400 plastic intake
I found a crack in plastic intake where in connects to throttle body , is a practical repair with some tape ok ? The crack is perpendicular to the round opening.

Any repair that eliminates a potential leak is good. I would not trust tape. Some sort of RTV sealant would probably be a better choice.
At the throttle body there, you have a vacuum, which may draw ambient air in through the crack. If that happens, the engine will be getting more air than it thinks it is, since that in-leaking air did not go past the air flow sensor. Could lead to a lean condition, misfires, engine problems. So that's the reason why it's an important leak to be sealed.
A simple test you can do for a potential vacuum leak like this, maybe before and after any repair, is to spray something on the leak area while the engine is running, and see if there is any change at all in how it runs. Carb cleaner, brake cleaner, and simply water are all viable options here - but you want to be careful about whether the chemicals will stain the plastic and rubber parts, so do a test on that first to avoid that.
As those plastic engine bay parts get old, they will be brittle due to the time and heat cycles, so breaking stuff is something to be wary of any time something is touched.
