Default Troubleshooting P 1354, P 1351, P0420, engine codes

I am troubleshooting my 2000 Lexus LS400. I have 176,000 miles on this vehicle and the other day I had an engine light come on and the VSC off light come on with the engine light. When these lights came on the engine started idling and running rough. When I had the engine codes checked I had a P 1354 , P 1351 , P0420, and a P0300. When I research the 1354 it points to the VVT solenoid and they suggest getting oil changed in which I did and had the codes cleared. But yet the same two lights and codes keep returning. Hoping someone out there has experienced the same issues and could give me some suggestions on where to start. Someone had stated that the 300 code or misfire could have been caused by the 1354 code. Thank you for any suggestions and help it is much appreciated.

Sorry for your trouble. Sounds like your engine has an off timing problem caused by the failing VVT solenoid (OCV) for bank 2. I'd simply remove it from the engine and test it using an external power supply of 8V DC (not 12V DC) to confirm the function. If the 8V is not available quickly, to use an 12V battery and a serial resistor of 4.7 ohm or putting a bulb for a brake light (21W) in series will be the way to go. The reason to reduce the current is to confirm the VVT solenoid is working OK with the reduced power. As far as I have experienced, the intermittent P1354/1351 problems are mostly caused by the weak VVT solenoid and it can be simply checked by that way. The P420 and P0300 are probably caused by the failing VVT solenoid. I also have to add that sometimes the filter for the VVT solenoid is blocked by the sludge and the same problem happens.

The video below is about an LS430 but it may help you because of the similarity most.
