Lexus LS400 With 34K Miles Sets the Gold Standard
#17
I'd have spend $15k for it to keep as a special car. Clearly more than one person was interested in the car at that price. Thats what its for, its not a driver. I wouldn't buy any car that old as a driver.
California has areas that have winter weather. This car originated in FL, and in FL in 1998 you commonly saw cars that were highly optioned (like this car) and did not have heated seats. In my region ALL LS400s had heated seats even low option ones. Remember in 1998 HIDs were an option, wood/leather wheel was an option, Nakamichi Audio was an option OR Navigation, and air suspension. At a $58k sticker that is absolutely a highly optioned LS. The only option its lacking in the FL region is the air suspension.

CA does not have winter weather where this car was first sold.... Confirmed those 40 bids were 40 different people? Cuz 40 people in a country of 300 million..not really alot by any metric.
Solid 8 or 9k car...and I would drive it not park it.

Its simply a fact that in FL, where this car was sold it was very common to see highly optioned cars without heated seats.
And what you think of the value doesn't matter lol, someone actually bought this car at an auction for this price, so thats what it works. Thats what market value is. You being willing to pay $9k means you would have been quickly outbid.

That car didn’t come from California...
Lexus and Toyota in the 90s had different sub distributors throughout the country. Those sub distributors dictated how the cars were spec’ed and ordered in that region. The southern states distributor ordered cars with high options but without heated seats. Your argument is that the car isn’t “highly optioned” because it doesn’t have heated seats and that just doesn’t make sense. It has all the other options, and they didn’t order cars in that region with heated seats.
As for the value, why complain about it? As an LS400 fan this car is very cool to see. Is it jealousy or something? If anything it helps the values of all your cars.
“Overpaid” is in the eye of the beholder. If you want an LS400 in that condition that’s the only one available, so it’s hard to say somebody overpaid. You can’t just walk down the street and buy another similar one and hope to pay less.

Jealousy? Complain? How do you get that when we visit say it's not for us? I'd rather have a 200k ls400 with meticulous records. Yes it is... And in it eyes it's over paying. This isn't face book buddy stop trying to turn it as such you have been warned.
Did you over pay and defending your purchase? I'll stop you here we don't care what you paid

The car I’m talking about is the one referenced in the article...it’s from FL, not California. Do you think I’m talking about your car? What they spec’ed and sold in California doesn’t have anything to do with this car.
My purchase? I didn’t buy this car or any LS400 other than the one I bought new in 1998. Had I seen this car when it was for sale I’d have been seriously tempted to bid on it.
I’ve been warned? Huh? Facebook? What are you talking about?! Sorry just don’t get it. This is a very cool car, I don’t understand crapping on it as an LS400 fan.

You claimed my car isn't from CA. I repeatedly said my car is a CA car....with heated seats. Thus disproving your theory that they are regional.
Also...your comprehension....is severely lacking with deanshark and I have repeatedly said we are crapping on the price not the car....

I did no such thing! You misunderstood me. I said the LS in this article with 34k miles is not from CA, it’s from FL. I never said anything about your car. How would I know anything about your car?!
