Dilution Calculator
Not dropping the pan and doing several drains and refills can be a pain. You need to be in the right frame of mind. Attached is a spreadsheet that will give the approximate amount of times you'll need to drain and refill to get a desired percentage of fresh, diluted fluid. Just put number values in the blue fields and it will return the number of D&R's you'll need to do.
When we first got our LS, I was at the dealer to get a print out of the previous owner's service records. I stopped in at the parts counter and asked about a trans filter. I was told they don't even stock them; they just do fluid exchanges via the cooler lines. I ordered a filter (more like a screen) kit from RA and dropped the pan.

Last time I did the drain and fill thing on the trans I did it after it had been jacked up front end for two weeks or so when I was working on the Timing belt on spare time.
Then it drained out almost 4 quarts. Almost half what is in there. Great.
Front end klunk when going over road defects slow is often the Strut rod bushings. At 100k miles they may look ok when you poke them but they are often not.
Those can be bought OEM for ca 35 $ each . I bought from Japan AMAYAMA.COM last time. Need to get to a 20 ton press to change them. I have done it on both my LS400.
