Okay so let me break this down for the next person who may need this info, you want to ALIGN your car wheels STRAIGHT, and have the clockspring turned 2.5 rotations, put it on the steering column, attach the steering wheel, and make 1 and 3/4 turn, you should be MAXED out in tension both ways, if you feel any looseness you have it not positioned correctly, there should be tension At the wheel when turned back each direction. The plastic pieces I posted above are for sound dampening so you don’t hear wire on wire contact, because I have no plastic I hear it. But I’m going to live with it, I’m just happy this car turns again.

This is the device that handles the rotational cable transfer that goes to the steering wheel buttons and airbag etc. Mine was broken which gave a airbag light first intermittnelty and later constantly on. This is a quite sophisticated device with a very limited spec. Mine was specified +- 2,5 revolutions. It just needs to be able to turns slightly more then needed lock to lock for the steering rack/wheels . It should never be overturned and it is smart to have steering in right turn well centered after doing any work on the steering. It is when new delivered perfectly centered (taped centered with a warning label) and it is reasonable to assume that if you disassemble stering stuff you should keep the steering wheel as it was when wheels were straight without fail. Tape it or cable tie it or..If you get the device turned non centered by misstake you will break it for sure after the first full left or rignt steer. I would not recommend trying to feel the end "stops" because there are none intended for use in this device. The thing is a bit delicate. I bought the new device from AMAYAMA.COM

thanks for the extra info, I think I’m okay on my end, I did some hard driving and steering feels like it did before, even did a little drifting just to push it a little extra to see if it would handle it.

Now leaking fluid..... when I went to work she was fine, now this. This is my last Lexus😒
it is dripping from the high pressure lines, we didn’t cross thread when installing and the washers were in good shape so not sure why that’s happening when it didn’t at all yesterday.

Wow. Um, wow. I am not sure what to say in response to the train wreck that this easy repair has turned into.
