Lightbulb 1999 LS 400 advice

Hey Lexus friends,

I was wondering if I could get some advice on a '99 LS 400. There is an unloved LS in my neighbourhood that has not moved in over 8 years, it also has a smashed rear window that means there is evidence of mould on the dash.

Should I offer a some money and try restore it (the lexus lover in me is hating seeing it in a bad state) or shall I just let it be?

Thomas

Offer 0 because it'll cost you $7,500+ to restore

It's most likely gonna be lots of work. If you really want it say $100. Those rims are nice

Sad to see this, best to leave it. The wheels are nice and certain parts are probably worth stripping but for running car, potential wallet drain.

I would offer like $500 max if you already own a 400 and want to strip it for parts and sell whatever you don't want to keep for your car and then ditch the shell for scrap. Water/weather getting inside any car is a massive amount of work to correctly fix and usually not worth it

The wheels appear to be the 17" wheels that were in the Dynamic Handling Package (DHP) that was an option in the U.K. The DHP included different springs and other components that I listed in a thread on this forum a long time ago. The car appears to be in quite horrible condition with the deterioration on the exterior. Better examples were crushed year ago in the UK's cash for clunkers program.

gotta love how those wheels were toyota's idea of 'handling' lol... i'd be very curious to drive an LS with the DHP, would it be similar to the 'rough road package' that we got here?

Would love to have those wheels in the US... I thought about shipping a set while I was over there.

Unfortunately, like others have said, this car looks like it's a bit too far gone for any reasonable offer to be accepted. It already needs a new rear passenger door or at least metal work done. Not to mention that the paint itself doesn't look that great either, and we don't even know how it runs or if the interior is any good.
