Default 1992 ls400 Transmission oil pan and dipstick tube

My transmission oil pan is currently seeping fuild very slowly. Going to do a flush and replace the gasket this week.

Hopefully the gasket will resolve this issue, if not where is the best place online to purchase a new pan? Also the tube the dipstick goes into is very corroded. I am having trouble sourcing that part locally and online aside from one site lexuspartsnow.com. From what I have read that site does not have the greatest reviews.

If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it. Thanks

from what i recall, the factory pan uses Form In Place Gasket (FIPG), aka sealant and not a pre-formed gasket.
not sure if there is a pre-formed gasket option in the aftermarket world.
unlikely the pan itsself is bad, unless you bend it upon removal so be gentle.

as for the dipstick tube, you can also try https://www.mylparts.com/.

Yes I believe you are correct about the gasket. I picked up the sealant(1281) from the dealer as well the t4 atf fluid.

I checked out the site, seems like they don’t stock that part. I am hoping it is just the gasket but for some reason the pan and the dipstick tube specifically is corroded on this car. If I cant find a new dipstick tube I will try and salvage it or make a new one.

FIPG is tricky to apply. it was applied by a robot at the factory so a person will not likely be as consistent.
make sure you apply it as instructed on the packaging, or you will encounter leaks again.

Thanks for the heads up. Much appreciated. I had order a gasket from a local auto parts store. Going to try using the sealant first and if I fail I will use the gasket.

I didn’t bother ordering the trans filter because the ls400 only has 115,xxxkm(70,xxxmiles). Would you say I am fine by not doing the filter?

filter is cheap and i would do it if you are dropping the pan already, but you would also be fine not doing it with such low miles.
i never did mine when it was sold at +171,000 - shifted like butter!

I went ahead and got the filter going to do the flush, filter and gasket tomorrow. Anyone have any leads on where I can but the dipstick tube?
