pretty cool to see, but has aftermarket tails and front signal/markers.
low miles considering it's age, but is it worth the asking? maybe not.

Man that thing is nice. I would suspect that interior was redone at some point. I can't see going 30 yrs and 200K miles without one scuff on the doors, or not having any wear on the cloth seats and armrest. But that's good. Not sure of the market value out there but around here that would be a $2500 car, only cuz of the miles. I wouldn't consider it rare because alot did come with cloth and no sunroof and heated seats. But I will say it's pretty nice and someone should scoop it up for about $3000.

It's probably original. The cloth interior wasn't subject to wear like the leather interior was. The cloth interior in the 1990 LS400 I bought new was still perfect when I sold the car in 2003 at 183,000 miles. Being in California, I wonder if this car was originally sold in Hawaii where early LS400's without sunroofs were more common.

I'm sad that I don't have the Lexus branded screwdriver. They must have stopped doing that after the 1st gen... or mine were replaced over the years...

See that, I'm still learning something new every day. 😀 Cloth is better.
This is the kind of well kept car I'll be looking for soon. As soon as I'm able to move, looking for the right place with a garage. No sense keeping a car like that outside in New England weather.
That's why I'm driving the junk I have now. 🙁

Darn, I wish I got to see this ad before it disappeared. What color was this car?

By the spec, mine is its twin from the same year. I would have liked to see the VIN.

Oddly enough, you would have expected my car to have been originally sold in a more tropical climate with the cloth seats, but it actually was first sold at a dealer in NYC.

I remember the Lexus dealership sales manager telling me that they would have soon shipped my 1990 LS400 to a dealership in Arizona that wanted cloth interiors if they weren't able to sell it in Kansas City. I was in the process of buying an LS400 demonstrator with a leather interior when I mentioned that I preferred cloth seats and would rather have a white exterior. I didn't know that cloth was available. I remember the sales manager's response which was "Have I got a deal for you." A couple of minutes later, a white LS400 with cloth interior was brought around. The upholstery was the only difference between the two cars. Otherwise, both cars had the same three options: carpet mats, remote entry and sunroof.

My next door neighbor bought an LS400 with leather interior the first week the Lexus dealer here was open in 1989. Other than color, the only difference between our two cars in how they were equipped was the upholstery type. When our cars were parked side by side, it was obvious that the ride height of mine was lower. Both cars had the same standard suspension system, wheel and tire size. I never learned why.
