Advice - owning an LS400
#16
My 94 is still quieter on the inside than almost anything else i've driven in. I always find my self driving it and thinking "wow i'm daily driving a 26 year old vehicle that still feels pretty much brand new". Of course you have to take care of them and pay the $$ for the OEM stuff but it's worth every penny. LS400 = legendary, I will always own an LS

i have 3. a 95, 99, and 2000. its easy to forget just how old these cars really are, and yes they are bulletproof, but you absolutely have to maintain them and as solid as they are, they are getting too old to be beat on. if you are good to them, they will be good to you.

But within the context of what it is, yeah, it's truly incredible.

For what it's worth, it doesn't have the rattles or the build quality issues that are more common in other brands. It does still feel brand new. But fundamentally it feels like a brand new boat that was designed in the 1980's. You're never going to get it to handle like a modern car.

Yeah like many here, I can't afford the car that can both ride well and handle well: a $100,000 E63s wagon, or similar cars of that caliber. If you want a car that can do both well, you have to pay for it. And even then, it's a jack of all trades, master of none.
The LS can ride properly and be comfortable, so I choose to maximize that instead of trying to make it handle properly. The chassis is too flexible, the suspension geometry is just never going to allow it. So that's where the 2nd sportscar comes in, which is intentionally hard, rough, loud, annoying, difficult. But it's REALLY good
Specialize the tasks you want the car to accomplish and you can get superb results.
