Default Removed all four mufflers, my thoughts after a week.

Let me start by saying this, I value my gas mileage and still did this, about two weeks ago I removed my rear muffs, nice little sound, no drone at all, couldn’t really hear it on highway speeds, no change in MPG. Last week I removed the last two, leaving just the resonator and cats, first impressions.... DRONE, but nice growl from 2500-4000 rpm. My city MPG obviously decreased by roughly 2 mpg, my highway stayed the same. Haven’t posted in awhile so just thought I’d start a conversation, what exhaust changes have you guys done?

Only replacing rusty parts. I may try to take mine apart on my 97 and patch it up good at some point. I was wondering where you got too kambam.

I have the opposite desire to you. I want the exhaust to be quiet.

I can understand wanting that, I’ve been doing lots of work to the car just haven’t been posting, finally got a new windshield, recently ordered new hood hinges (100$)to put on my new hood..... she’s coming back together nicely.

if you do just PB blast the crap out of the bolts, mine would not break free even with air tools, had to buy a pipe cutter, took only 2 minutes to cut it off.

my rear mufflers are probably the best looking part of my exhaust system so I won't be losing those anytime soon.

I mean its not rusty/got holes in it. If you want to remove them go for it. Still, lots of work for a louder car.

No rust that I've seen. Shop charges $100 to cut them off and weld pipe to the back.

If the videos I've seen are to be believed removing those gives it a growl when punching it not necessarily when putting around town

i've just done the rear 2 mufflers, i just wanted a little bit of subtle rumble that wouldn't be overly obnoxious... one day when my car was at the shop for something i asked my mechanic to just unbolt the rear 2 mufflers for me just to see what it was like, and i liked it so i had him weld some pipes in place of the mufflers so i wasn't getting exhaust being let out right under the car

my friend described it as sounding like vin diesel's muscle car lol so i'm happy to stop there

I have been wanting to get an electronic exhaust cut-out for just before the Y into the 4 mufflers, and then add 2 mufflers back in. So I can have the obnoxious drony loudness, hit a switch, and get subdued cruising quietness. These variable cut-out mufflers from Quick Time Performance look real nice: https://quicktimeperformance.com/p-3...c-muffler.html

the mic doesn't quite do it the full justice but there's definitely some truth to that lol... at 2000 rpm under load there's definitely a bit of that going on but when you're cruising along it's just a quiet dignified burble

I like it, quiet at idle and cruising then scream when laying into it
