Default Timing belt confusion

Hi all,
I have a LS400 1994 ufc10.
I plan to change the timimg belt, tensioners, water pump ect plus a full service and maybe change the transfluid / filter also.
But I have one small problem in buying a timing belt kit.
I have looked at kits from Aisin, Gates, Bosch, Blueprint etc
My confusion is that some of the kits have a belt with 209 teeth and some with 211 teeth, yet they are all listed as correct for my car.
My question is, doe this difference of 2 teeth make a difference and if so, what is the correct one for my car.
Being in the Netherlands I am a little restricted in where I get my parts from.

I believe the 211 tooth one is correct, but regardless I have always purchased the Aisin kit. I wouldn't mess with any other brand, Aisin is the OEM and I haven't had any issues with the 2 timing belt/water pumps that I have installed.

I'd take the belt off and count the teeth on the belt, that's not something you want to take chances with. There might have been some type of transition with this year, someone else who has personal experience with this year might chime in, I have a 2000 model. But count the teeth for sure on original, it's either one or the other. You could buy both belts beforehand and simply return the one that is wrong after you count the teeth on the original belt.

209 is correct for the 1994 model year.
VVTi engines use the 211 so the transition was mid year 1997

211 is for 1998,1999,2000

Whatever you are getting, do a quick check with the old belt to be 100% sure. It's up to you but I would do it.

I ordered a complete gates kit from Rock auto.
I will check everything when I get the old belt off.
Thank you for the info.

Careful with the gates, it's not the best quality and won't have markings to help align the belt

I prefer the Gates kit over the ever so popular Aisin, but yes the lack of markings adds a little time to the job.
To each his own...

If you are replacing the water pump, before removing it, make sure that all the bolts are at the right locations. I got ASIN water pump before. All the locations were correct, but there was one bolt that occupied a location that should be left opened. Lucky, it was the extra, so I saw it off and filed it. Sometimes I dislike buying stuffs online for case like this, returning takes time.

We had a discussion in another thread about Gates belts. Just be sure to take the time to count the teeth. There have been a few of us that have recieved Gates belts that are one tooth short but the part number is exactly what was needed. I was able to compare the belt I initially recieved to another in the store, same part number, and they were different by one tooth.

Default Who is supply chain partner for incorrect parts?

ClubLexus Forum is replete with substandard/incorrect/failed aftermarket parts:
Radiator hoses, Timing belts, starters, Alternators, Steering Racks, Power Steering Pumps, engine mounts, brake rotors, pads, struts....etc.

Failure of these parts is a safety issue...

When will the lesson be learned.??.and for safety's sake, why isn't there a sticky under each respective Lexus model on Clublexus??

How many 1, 2, or 3UZ-FE timing belts, aftermarket OR Genuine OE, have you seen fail?

As to timing belts, none of mine have failed, but have seen numerous that have ended up in the pick and pull yards because their timing belts expired.

Here we have mention of a Gates belt mislabeled.

Am sorry but aftermarket has been a major disappointment for Toyota and Lexus owners.

As for the other components:

"ClubLexus Forum is replete with substandard/incorrect/failed aftermarket parts:
Radiator hoses, Timing belts, starters, Alternators, Steering Racks, Power Steering Pumps, engine mounts, brake rotors, pads, struts....etc." (forgot to mention Moog upper control arms)

All of these aftermarket items have been the subject of countless complaints...on this forum.

Could it be?

Speaking of a Gates timing belt, I had a bad noisy problem on my family's car Subaru Stella but it was not as noisy as this.
