Default 99 ls 400 batt. Light

Evening all,

thought I'd pick your brains. Any and all input appreciated.
146k batt. Light came on. Test batt. Car off 12.47volts tested with running 13.6volts. Retested later 12.47 off 11.87 running. With car running unhooked batt. And car stalls.

Put it on my code reader and it tested 12 volts off 12 volts running.
ordered alternator from Rock auto.

forgot to mention I changer the serpentine belt and volt meter tests did not change. 38$ wasted.

But heres the bummer. The code reader picked up a shift solenoid c . Now occasionally when I slow to almost a stop and then try to accelerate it will hesitate. And it has been whining for awhile. Originally I thought power steering so I did the turkey baster flush every 100miles until clean. No change. Then I thought alt. And it still might be the alt but now that I got a tranny code I'm wondering. Now I have drained the trans pan 2 qrt and refilled 3 times and fluid looks good. (With toyota fluid)

so when I was on Rock auto I ordered the shift solenoid 3 (c =3) I hope! And the Hastings filter and gasket.

thoughts? Am I on the right path? That damn solenoid was 205$

did you install the alternator already? all sounds like the main culprit.
i would install the alternator first and see if the shift solenoid code goes away.

If replacing, consider 130A alternator;

If ordered but not installed, perhaps return or exchange an option

Update:
what a pain in the @$$. Pwr steering pulley was in the way. But its done and looks like it fixed the shift solenoid code also. Might be too soon to tell. But I test drove it for at least 20mile and no codes.

it was whining for a while all winter long. GLAD ITS DONE!

batt. Tests 12.7 engine off and 14 24 engine running. Took me 5 hrs. But I was taking my time and drinking beer lol.

as you get older, you will find you do your best work when you are not in a hurry, and some beer helps... just turned 86..

I've noticed ya realize alot of stuff like this as ya get older. Oh I miss the old days when everything wasn't rushed. Things were built better with no mistakes.
