to stay on subject, what is the objective evidence that royal purple "cleans"?
Don't have any. Watched some videos seemed like it worked. Figured I'd try it.

i did get the ultra platinum, although frankly i don't see what makes it so ultra... i don't think the under-stressed engine in my LS would really have any benefit from the ultra over just 'regular' platinum

and yes tough to find, ordered it off amazon

ah ok no problem. i'm curious since i have another car with a sludgy engine and want to see what will work to get get rid of it. i pulled the pan and it was baaad, plus the valve train was pretty coated with sludge too. put in mobile 1 full syth and haven't checked it since other than oil level on the dip stick which seems ok but not substantial enough to tell if the rest of the engine is sludge-free. i try to stay away from seamfoam stuff!

My heads don't have varnish anymore, plus every time I've used it for this reason it has worked well. Turns stuff back into bare aluminum most of the time, I'll dig through my pictures of the cams when I first pulled the covers off vs now

yeah it was pretty hard to find, only 2 5qt jugs high up on the shelf, didn't really have a price tag location for it, and i haven't seen it since in other walmarts

When I first bought the car on whatever oil it had in it, I'll scope the car again so I can show the improvement but when I did the other cover (was not leaking at the time of the first) after about 700 miles on RP it was far cleaner

RP ATF is good stuff, their motor oil is way over priced and below average at best.

OT but walmart has really stepped up their game on shipping fluids.

I bet. But my concern was about my card being used without my permission elsewhere. But since I now use privacy.com that's a non issue.

For this car Royal Purple oil is worth what it makes you subjectively feel. The warm and fuzzies could make the oil really worth the money you spend on it.

Otherwise any modern synthetic including the bargain ones that have the API starburst certification label will be far, far better than what the engineers designed the motor to handle.
