I figure it's safe to switch from rp to full synthetic havoline. I used rp to "clean" the inside a bit. Ready to go back. Any issues to be expected?

I am using Mobil 1 FS 5W-30 at 245k in a 98 LS400. I would say be more frequent in replacing the oil and filter than leaving the oil longer. 3k if its city driving, 5k if its mixed, 6-7k if its interstate (all roadtrips).

My intervals are the same. With this Rona going on trips outside the city have become less frequent. Been using my ls for work just to put miles on it.

Really any synthetic oil is great. Royal is a great oil, but it is expensive. I use mostly Penzoil platinum. Usually do a very similar change interval. With a motor craft filter, which is very good filter and the Penzoil Platinum I can do an oil change for about $25-28 bucks depending on if it is on sale or not. So for that price its super easy and cheap. Takes about 20 min.

Royal killed my VVT actuators lol, cleaned too well too fast and plugged them. Still using it since I'm not as clean as I would like inside yet but I'll transition back to mobile 1 EP once it is

i just switched to pennzoil platinum after seeing the results on Project Farm, it performed better than any other oil apart from Amsoil Signature with regards to lubricity properties, temperature resistance, and low temperature viscosity... amsoil is $15 a quart though whereas pennzoil platinum is just over $20 for a 5 quart jug
the platinum is refined from natural gas instead of crude oil so it's genuinely not just another oil

I found this new Havoline full synthetic oil in a cardboard box at Walmart that's made by Chevron for $18, but the cool part is you get 6 quarts instead of 5, so you won't have to buy an additional quart to do a full fill of the crankcase with the normal 5.5-6qts it requires. The box is 70% recycled cardboard and oil flows faster out of the box without glugging and splashing back at you on the funnel.

to stay on subject, what is the objective evidence that royal purple "cleans"?
