Platinum 2000 on Carsandbids
This car was featured on the homepage in an article a couple of days ago. I was waiting for something like this to show up on BAT, maybe one has and I missed it. Right now it is sitting at $8,100 US and has 3 days left. I am thinking it won't hit the kind of #'s that 1st gens of the same quality.

Car's being flipped it looks like:
Clean car though. It's in great condition and the perfect spec (silver on black) with a ton of pretty rare optional equipment.
Can anyone comment on the leather though? The texture of the seat inserts look different than any other LS I've seen - it's almost got this alligator square texture pattern. Have the seats been redone? Or did they come like this.
In comparison, this is the leather texture on my 98' (completely smooth):
The AutoCheck report also confirms that the seller is the second owner, and that the original owner had the car for 19 years until the seller recently purchased it.

wow it's at $9200.00 already.
Nice condition, I've seen these rims sort of a satin finish, or chrome like mine, pretty crazy it's getting that high already. I really like my 2000 LS 400 and all but when you start getting around 10K....I mean at that point you could look at LS 460's with like 140K miles or so in really nice condition. Granted this is a classic style I get it but 460's are nice, who knows

I bought an off lease 2000 LS400 Platinum Series "SF" in 2003 from auto broker who had bought it at auction and was using it as his daily driver. It had 38,000 miles on it when I bought it and about 179,000 miles.when I sold it in 2014. Here's a link to a photo of it just before I sold it to a friend - still looked and drove like new but it took a lot of money during the 11 years to keep it that way: https://www.clublexus.com/g/picture/9959281

There is a 99 of similar quality near me and buddy is asking for $12,000. Its not as nice as this one is and I thought he was asking too much but whatever this goes for will pretty much set the standard going forward for the 98-00 models. The LS400 seems to be getting more and more of a following everyday.
I can't believe you guys would rather have an 07 460 over this 00 400. The LS460 may be an amazing car with more comforts/tech then the LS400 but it does not look like anything. LS460 won't ever be shooting up in value when its 20 years old. Early model 460 has issues from what I can tell and the 00 LS400 is nearly flawless.

I'd like to have both actually lol but can't have everything. It is interesting because it's the last in line of this model, 2000 was it, then the LS430. These cars have gone through a phase of the value dropping many years ago, now that seems to be turning the corner because clearly they were built with quality. I have owned many cars and these are built / engineered extremely well as a whole. There are a ton of poorly made cars out there.
Sometimes the last year model of a said given design is the most collectible and that might end up being the case with this particular car.
When I bought mine 1 year ago I sat down chatted with the original owner for a while, I told her I am a re-seller by occupation, she thought I might be buying mine to re-sell it but I assured her no I am not doing that, ( I don't re-sell cars ) I needed a good car. I remember researching these cars a little over a year ago and I saw "Kansas" photos of his white LS 400 on google images and then checked reviews and sold me on buying this car. And it's been an awesome car.
Lets put it this way, I am not selling my LS 400, that would mean I have to find another car with the same quality and condition for the money...which is not easy. I am wondering if the new owner of this car is to garage it and rarely drive it and maybe further restore it a little bit here and there cosmetically. I mean who knows, 10 years from now he or she may very well double their money in 10 years.

I wonder what the collectible versions will be. Early 1st gen cars, 90, 91, 92. And then obviously end-of-run cars in 99 and 00. Platinum editions and coach editions seem to bring the most interest.
Most of the stuff in the middle will be "driver" cars? I'm glad there is rising interest for these cars though. I just saw two young guys driving a REALLY clean 94\95 on the highway today. Tan on beige, gold edition. Did I mention it was REALLY clean?
Brilliant answer, thank you. I've never come across any pictures of it before so I was quite bamboozled.

The 2000 LS400 Platinum Series came with textured leather that I called lizard leather for fun. The three Platinum Series versions are described in the specifications I posted a few years ago - link is in the "stinky" at the top of this forum but here it is: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...del-years.html

60,000 miles: The timing belt and water pump replaced, it only has 70,000 miles on the car.
4 new Michelin Premier A/S tires.
All it needs is a driver, take care of it, and all good for a long long time.

I really hope they did the crankseal when doing that Tbelt service. That's what blew on my 97' that had only 50k on the belt at the time but 255k on the car and caused me to have to do the T belt early.

12K, it's about what you would expect for that mileage and condition, looks awesome, it has a few minor things going on with the paint and still got 12K.
I bought my 2000 Platinum pearl white color 1 year ago this month of July from the original owner who garaged it when not using it. When shopping she'd park in the middle of parking lots so no one would ding it, now I do the same thing with this car. Had 137,000+ miles on it when purchased, in a year I put just about 4000 miles on it and keep it clean and covered when I'm not using it. I paid $4795.00 for mine, I just gave her asking price it's in excellent condition with excellent service records. I'm not going to trip over pennies and lose a deal. Mine has twice the mileage as that one for 12K dollars, he's got Nakamichi sound too, that's like everything you'd want in that year is in that car.
If you see a car like this come up for sale in this condition and miles pay up or you won't get it and someone else will buy it.
Congrats to the new owner whoever he or she is.
