Have To Smack My Dash to Get Speedometer to Work
In my '98 LS400, I often have to hit the dash to make the speedometer read. Is there a company that redoes those for Lexus?

The gauges are fluid damped. The damping fluid is leaking out unfortunately. Be careful banging on the dash because I did it once too many times on my car and it killed my fuel gauge.
A temporary fix is to take apart the cluster and wedge something like a cotton swab onto the little tab where the needle's supporting apparatus rests on at the "zero" position. The damping fluid seeps onto there and causes the sticking effect. When I was in the 2LS community 10 years ago I didn't know about any company that fixes the issue, maybe something changed since then.

Beware to others, dont bang on the dash to unstick your needles. Just live with it or fix it!
