'96 LS400 - Could someone check their remote fob?
Dear all,
Just picked up a beautiful '96 LS400. Moonstone Pearl, 62k miles, lovely condition. I'm working my way through the to do list and one of the issues is a missing central locking remote. As my car is pre-97 it came with the plain no button key and a seperate remote fob but a previous owner mislaid the spare key and remote. The key I can get anywhere but the remote I'm struggling with. I'm in the UK and the part number is 89742-50631. My Lexus dealer can't get one but Amayama is listing them as in stock. But what I don't want is to order it and find that it's on your 315MHz frequency.
So, could one of you kind souls check the part number on your remote and make sure it's not 89742-50631 before I drop 200 quid on one? Seems unlikely they'd use the same part number but you never know.
And here's a gratuitous LS shot.

Hopefully some of the Euro members can chime in. May check what is available on the local auction sites for used as a test piece. If that works and you want a new remote then that option is there. BTW, if a remote is fully functional you can by a new shell to replace the worn outer and save money. I have bought several used ones from $25-$40 and a shell costs ~$5-$8 stateside. My current remote shell is from one of the Camry models. Before that I had a shell from I want to say 4 Runner that had the back window in place of the trunk symbol. Just to note that the shells on newer models may have different internal mounts for the PCB so they may look alike but not fit properly.

Thanks for the reply.
There's nothing available on UK eBay and these cars aren't as common over here as they are in the US hence my post here. Also we never got the range of Toyotas that you got/get so there's not as much opportunity to raid the parts bin.
I've bitten the bullet and ordered from Amayama anyway. Hopefully it will be the correct frequency if they have one.

Check aliexpress.com, you would just need the matching chip number I guess. If you can find from a junk yard, you could also possibly reprogram the immobilizer and just get a new key blank cut instead.

Euro models use the frequency 433.92MHz and you need to obtain one designed for Euro markets. Sorry that I don't know the exact part number for EU. In the worst scenario, there is a technique to swap only a crystal oscillator without touching the encoder chip but this needs some skills and RF measuring equipments.

Hi all.
Sorry, I wasn't clear. I know about the different frequencies, I was just concerned that the US and UK fobs shared a part number aqnd if I ordered from Amayama I'd end up with the wrong one. Anyhoo, moot point because I've just been notified there supplier doesn't stock them any more! Chasing another lead but I'm not hopeful.

These guys www.abkeys.com
Actually came across them from a Google image search, got in touch to confirm stock, they emailed back to say they had one.
Anyone else's mind still blown away by real time tracking? They're using DHL and since I ordered it Monday I've received regular updates. It's currently about 50 miles up the road from where I'm sat right now.
