Default 96-97 instrument cluster in a 98?

Hey everyone I got a 98 LS400, it's a beautiful car but one thing I'm not a fan of is the instrument cluster on this gen. It reminds me of a Mercedes with all the stupid warning messages and what not. I had a 96 and I much preferred that cluster. Does anyone know if these clusters plug and play or am I SOL on that?

I think they plug and play, but I think you get the mileage of the donor cluster.

98 and after use the newly introduced bus system called BEAN. Unfortunately a 98 and a 96 are not compatible and not plug and play.

not compatible and also the 98 has one extra gear so the cluster will not reflect correctly. why not just fix what the warning message is telling you?!
