BPD

Drove LS until March shutdown. It has 368k miles. Let it sit for a couple weeks. When I went to start it, the engine just whined like timing belt was broken. Power to the car seems fine. Mechanic checked it out and said bottom of motor not turning. Motor turns from one side to the other 180 degrees but reaches a point on either side where it stops. Any ideas what would cause this?

Your mechanic turned a VVTi engine in the opposite direction of normal engine rotation??

First. if timing belt was broken, unlikely the engine would turn 180 degrees in either direction.

Did illustrious mechanic pull a cam cover?

Perhaps battery or starter is tired or expired.

Find another mechanic...
