Stereo and AC out

So when my friends 1998 LS400 Alternator was failing, and then finally failed while I just happened to be driving it....the battery was discharged...then I imagined that first the radio went out, then the climate control....and finally the instrument cluster?
Then a minute later the engine cut out....
All conjecture?

Funny thing, I would have stopped searching by now. I would just run new wires from the fuse box (where you say you still have power) up to the AC and radio. But make sure you have an inline fuse on new wires. Maybe some wires actually burnt when you heard the pop. Did you trace the wires back from the AC/stereo back to the fuse box to see how they look? It's gotta be somewhere in that last 3 feet if you still have the power coming out of the fuse box.

I did as you said, I now have power to the AC controls, but they do not do anything, every buttons acts as it should but no response from the ac.

the fuse was good until i plugged in a new compressor, I had checked every fuse on the whole car prior even though it wasn't burnt out at the time.
