Power Steering Noise
Before anybody says search/read threads, I have. Now my issue is a slight "ssshhhhh" noise when turning, engine at idle and car in park. I just replaced the power steering pump with an OEM Lexus unit, new OEM air control valve, and new vacuum lines. I used mobil 1 ATF, followed the bleeding procedures from this website. Maybe I still have air in the system? My question is, is this slight "ssshhhh" noise normal turning in park at idle. No other noises while driving and turning, or when just idling, (Not turning steering wheel). Any information on this or if somebody can check on their car would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, happy holidays.

The manual says to use dexron II or III, The mobil 1 ATF is compatible with both of those specs. From the forums I read multiple people have had good results from the mobil 1 fluid. I will get some Toyota ATF and see if that solves the issue.

the power steering fluid is absolutely dexron II or III, no need to get official toyota ATF

I listen to the people who built the thing, not yahoos on forums that topped up their fluid with the incorrect synthetic and it was fine, hence they know more than the people who built it.
Toyota Genuine Automatic Transmission Fluid.
The premium ATF specifically designed for Toyota automatic transmissions
Attachment 504171

i don't doubt that it's quality fluid, but nowhere in the manual does it say use toyota transmission fluid for the power steering, it specifically says toyota atf type-iv for the transmission itself but just basic dexron for power steering... i wasn't trying to imply that using the 00718-ATF00 is wrong but i'm pretty sure you're just paying a bit extra for nothing

Thing is,do you have a source for that Dexron III thats not Toyota,I couldnt find one.Im sure ANY Dexron III would be fine.Much like the Mobil 3309 is fine in the transmission, same stuff Toyota uses.

If they are dexron III,the real deal dexron,I would have zero issue using it.Im seeing VALVOLINE DEXRON® III/MERCON® ATF,that doesnt seem the same thing to me.Its another formulation.
If you find a real deal dexron III available, and it isnt, its no longer made but for TOYOTA. Its what I found.Im all ears if you have a Dexron III real deal source.
