While headlamp assemblies were removed from 1999 LS400, cleaned the housing, conditioned the rubber seals; on ballast and bulb access covers, then replaced very crusty/rusty ballast flange locknuts.

If anyone is replacing a ballast , Lexus has discontinued these special steel nylon-insert flange locknuts M5 X .08 thread pitch...

However, was able to obtain a stainless steel equivalent with a slightly larger flange from McMaster-Carr... # 94710A102


New vs old. Original parts are steel with black oxide(?) Replacements are stainless steel (steel available with black anti-rust coating), so applied anti-seize to the clamping face of nut at Aluminum ballast housing.

stainless should perform better over the years. gotta love mcmastercarr, they have all kinds of hardware of all types in metric sizing.
