97 Strut mounts
Hello again and sorry for bombarding this forum with inquiries but I again ran into something I'd like advice on.
Strut mounts are bad and I have to get some new ones. Does anyone have a good aftermarket one they'd reccomend? I saw some kyb ones doing preliminary research but am unsure if I need KYB struts for it to fit properly. I have the original shocks, non air ride.

In the research I did when replacing my shocks, the general consensus was to go with Lexus OEM for the mounts & boots. Considering how cheap mounts are relative to the hassle of replacing them & the rest of the parts, it's probably best to spend a couple bucks more and get OEM ones. You don't want them to start clunking in 2 years. I personally boguht KYB shock mounts for my front suspension. They are clunking 14 months later. I regret not spending a couple extra bucks back then.
The shocks themselves you can go OEM, but there are plenty of options here. KYB is the OEM for the shocks and will give very similar performance to OEM and I haven't seen any major quality complaints in my research. Bilstein's seem to be the 2nd most popular brand, little bit stiffer & more control.

As to KYB, numerous posts their aftermarket LS400 struts are not as durable as the KYB struts purchased by Toyota/Lexus.
My guess is KYB strut mounts fall into the same category.

I bought my 97 LS when it was a year old so I have it for 23 years now. It's currently at 257K miles & still drive like new. Since owning the car, I've pretty much did all of the maintenance myself after the mfg warranty ran out & have replaced the struts/shocks with KYB 3 times. I've also replaced the upper strut mounts w/ KYB when the car was at 100K miles even though I didn't really need to replace them. Since then, it has been rock solid so I let you be the judge to that.
